My name is Omri Goren. I am a senior lecturer at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, an artist, and a fashion and jewelry designer. My practice operates at the intersection of academic research and material making. Through wearable objects, I examine relations of power and meaning—particularly the transitions between text, body, and material.

This project emerged from my doctoral research, when I first realized that the text meant to generate knowledge and authority was gradually distancing itself from the body which gave rise to it. Rather than leaving the research as a closed “document,” I took the pages themselves and transformed them into raw material. I then reworked them in combination with metal, using traditional jewelry-making techniques.

The result is jewelry that functions not only as objects, but as wearable texts. Once academic knowledge moves onto the body—worn, mobile, and experienced—it loses some of its authority, yet gains another form of meaning: one that is alive, personal, and political.
